Story Behind This Song

I wrote this song in the winter of 2008 as I reflected back on the previous year and a half of my life. I thought about the roller coaster of emotions I had experienced throughout my dad’s illness…the initial fears, doubts, anger and confusion…leading to the inexplicable joy and all surpassing peace that came with the decision to surrender.

Although I would never ever choose for my family to repeat this experience, or voluntarily subject my father to such trauma, I cannot begin to explain the growth that has taken place in my heart in the midst of this storm. I have experienced the flooding of God’s grace, and the immensity of His love in ways that I don’t know I would have experienced otherwise. He sang over me, spoke to me, comforted and held me. He has inspired songs in me and taken me to a deeper level in my own personal worship. I am so thankful that God has taken this situation and turned it around for good, using the pain and fractures in my own life, to bring life to His kingdom.
