Story Behind This Song

I wrote this song shortly after I answered the call to become a worship leader. I had run from that call for many years, because I felt entirely inadequate to lead. My voice wasn’t good enough, my range wasn’t big enough, I wasn’t comfortable in front of a crowd, I didn’t know if I could really “lead” people into the presence of God. But when I finally decided to surrender my will to His, be obedient, and step out in faith, I found that God met me every step of the way. He took whatever little talent and abilities I gave Him, and magnified them. He gave me a boldness I never knew I could have. But I knew that none of it had anything to do with me, or my own strength. It was all just about God’s grace. I was so desperate for Him to meet me every time I stepped on that altar, because I knew without His anointing, the music would just be noise. I wrote this song as a prayer to God…that wherever the road of life might lead, I would never ever lose my desperate need for Him.
