Story Behind This Song

This song was written during a “waiting period” in my life, a time when I was sort of in between seasons. In the Fall of 2003, God had spoken some very specific things into my life regarding my ministry and music. It was a very exciting time for me, full of new purpose, zeal, dreams being birthed in my heart. I couldn’t get enough of God, and I fully believed that He was going to bring to pass everything He had promised.

In the Spring of 2006, the memories of that amazing time were getting fuzzy, and I found myself growing more and more disheartened as those promises had not yet become a reality. Even as I write this, it seems so silly that I should grow so impatient in only 3 short years. But sometimes, we as humans create our own timelines of when and how we think God should act, based on our own logic and reason. And when He doesn’t move in that time period, we grow frustrated and discouraged. I’ve come to find that it’s during that transition time, that waiting period between seasons, that God allows our character to be built and shaped, refining us like gold…so when the appointed time comes, we are prepared to do the work He’s called us to do. It all comes down to trusting that God really is in control and that His timing is always perfect.
